South Africa weather: heavy rain and damaging wave warnings
South Africa is experiencing unsettled weather conditions across various regions, characterized by a mix of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
Coastal areas are under significant alert, with damaging wave warnings in effect for multiple locations, including Mossel Bay and Lamberts Bay. The Western Cape faces risks of disruptive rainfall that could lead to localized flooding in the Overberg and Garden Route districts, alongside damaging winds and very cold, wet conditions in high-lying areas.
In the interior, provinces such as Gauteng, the Free State, Mpumalanga, and the North West are seeing showers and thundershowers. Conversely, some areas like Johannesburg and Polokwane have reported warmer, partly cloudy conditions. Additionally, extremely high fire danger warnings have been issued for parts of the Free State, North West, and Limpopo.
