South Africa weather: Severe storms and heatwaves forecast

South Africa is experiencing diverse weather conditions, with severe thunderstorm warnings issued for parts of Limpopo, including Mokopane, Thabazimbi, Bela-Bela, and Mogalakwena. These storms may cause localized flooding and pose risks to property and infrastructure due to heavy downpours, hail, and lightning.

In KwaZulu-Natal, a heatwave is expected to bring persistently high temperatures and extreme discomfort, particularly in the north-east and extreme north coasts. The UVB sunburn index is forecasted to be extreme in these areas.

Other regional conditions include warm to hot weather in the Free State and North West, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers possible in the east. Temperatures in Kimberley are expected to reach 32°C, while Bloemfontein will see a range between 12°C and 30°C. Cape Town and Gqeberha are expected to remain milder with highs around 21°C.
