South Africa matriculants pledge integrity ahead of national exams

South Africa’s Class of 2026 has participated in pledge-signing ceremonies across the country to reaffirm their commitment to honesty, discipline, and academic integrity. These ceremonies were held ahead of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 13 October.

During a provincial ceremony in the Free State, President Cyril Ramaphosa urged learners to remain focused and avoid lapses in judgment that could jeopardize years of academic effort. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by students, families, and educators, noting that the examinations are an opportunity for learners to reap the rewards of their investment in education.

The President also highlighted the progress of students from no-fee schools in rural areas and townships. Additionally, he challenged the Free State province to reclaim its status as the nation’s top-performing province in matric results.
