Following massive flooding and landslides in Nepal, nine South Korean citizens—six employees from Doosan Enerbility and three from Korea South-East Power—remain missing near the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower plant construction site.

The South Korean government has expanded its rapid response team to 20 personnel and is deploying helicopters to conduct search operations. While the government and private companies have secured six helicopters, search efforts have faced significant delays due to adverse weather conditions and flight restrictions imposed by the Nepalese military to prevent further accidents.

In a policy shift, the Nepalese government has partially reversed its previous refusal of foreign aid, now permitting specialized international assistance for tasks such as tunnel rescue, DNA testing, and forensic identification. Doosan Group has committed 5 million USD in emergency aid to the affected Rasuwa region to support search, rescue, and recovery efforts.

While nine workers remain missing, ten other South Korean employees who were previously isolated by the floods have been successfully rescued and moved to safe areas.
