South Africa's SASSA Old-Age Grants Schedule and New Eligibility Rules for July 2026

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will make its July 2026 Old‑Age Grant payments on Tuesday, 7 July. Grants have been increased to R2 400 for recipients aged 60‑74 and to R2 420 for those 75 and older.

New means‑test limits require monthly incomes below R9 350 (single) or R18 700 (married) and set asset ceilings of R1 584 000 (single) or R3 168 000 (married). Applicants must provide identity documents, recent bank statements, proof of residence, income and asset information, and other supporting paperwork. SASSA says it will use smart‑queue management and self‑service kiosks to keep waiting times around 90 minutes and is cross‑checking data with other departments to curb fraudulent claims, aiming to save billions in grant expenditures.
