South American theatre revivals showcase acclaimed plays in Chile and Argentina

In Chile, actress Claudia di Girolamo returns to the stage after 33 years to perform the monologue "El vicio absurdo," a work originally written by Roberto Baeza at age 19 and first staged in 1993. Directed by Rodrigo Pérez, the revival delves into the mind of British writer Virginia Woolf, blending the original text with the actress's contemporary reflections.

In Argentina, the contemporary drama "Verona" by writer Claudia Piñeiro is scheduled to reopen in Buenos Aires' Ítaca Complejo Teatral in 2026. Directed by Cristina Osses and starring Laura López, Mariana Escobar O’Neill and Cristina Osses, the new production examines family dynamics, aging, and the responsibilities of caring for elderly parents.
