South Carolina mother accused of stabbing two children

A 6-year-old boy named Dawson sustained severe injuries while attempting to protect his 3-year-old sister, Hazel, during a knife attack by their mother, 35-year-old Taylor Gosnell, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Authorities report that Gosnell allegedly stabbed the two children nearly 50 times. The children suffered deep lacerations, some reaching the bone, but are currently reported to be in stable condition. Due to the severity of his wounds, doctors are considering the possibility of amputation for Dawson.

The children's grandmother, Jan Marie Mull, stated that Dawson likely received the most significant injuries because he jumped in to shield his sister. The children were discovered by authorities after Dawson managed to call for help.
