South Carolina mother charged with attempted murder of two children

Taylor Morgan Gosnell, 35, has been arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder following an alleged attack on her two children in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Authorities responded to a welfare check at the family residence on September 26, where they discovered a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old child alone and suffering from numerous injuries. Investigators believe the assault, which involved both a knife and a blunt object, occurred during the overnight hours. Officials estimate the children sustained approximately 50 stab wounds between them, with some lacerations being deep enough to reach the bone.

The 6-year-old sustained particularly severe injuries, facing the potential amputation of fingers or an arm. Both children were transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and are reported to be in stable condition with expectations of recovery.

Evidence at the scene indicated a violent struggle, including smashed televisions and mirrors. Gosnell was detained after returning to the residence and was subsequently held without bond. She also faces additional warrants for possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
