South Cyprus seals investment, trade and defence accords with India

Leader of the Turkish‑Cypriot administration, Nikos Hristodulidis, led a diplomatic and business delegation to India, where he signed a joint communiqué and five memoranda covering diplomacy, defence, transport, rescue, education, culture, innovation, technology and higher education. The visit resulted in the creation of a Cyprus‑India trade centre slated to open on 1 September, the signing of agreements on a Bollywood film to be shot in Cyprus and the registration of more than 30 Indian investors intent on projects in the south.

The Invest Cyprus‑India Business Forum, organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce, FICCI and CII, attracted over 45 Cypriot firms and 200 Indian executives, facilitating about 250 targeted B2B meetings. Indian companies such as Dodla Dairy, Mizuki International, Thomas Cook India, LTI Mindtree, Drone Destination and Bcentriqe.ai announced plans to operate in Cyprus. Defence and security cooperation was highlighted, with MoUs paving the way for future arms purchases from India and the establishment of a joint counter‑terrorism working group.

Overall, the trip opened new commercial channels, cultural exchanges and strategic security ties between South Cyprus and India.
