South Florida faces extreme heat as heat dome settles over region

South Florida is expected to experience its hottest stretch of the summer this week. A large heat dome over the deep South is trapping high temperatures across the region, with highs forecast in the mid to upper 90s.

Extreme heat is anticipated early to mid-week, with record temperatures possible in Miami and surrounding areas on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. A heat advisory is in effect for Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Skies are expected to remain hazy due to Saharan dust, which will likely persist through early week. While the heat dome is projected to break down later in the week, temperatures will remain above average. Currently, the Atlantic remains quiet with no tropical development expected for at least the next week.
