In South Karelia, Finland, nine towns and venues will light traditional midsummer bonfires (kokko) on the evening of June 19. The sites include Myllysaaren in Lappeenranta, the riverside of Taipalsaari’s church village, Jalkosalmi in Lemi, Ukonlinna in Imatra, Ravintola Sula on the Vuoksi river, Risulahden in Luumäki, Oronmylly in Parikkala, Kekäleniemi on the Rautjärvi shore, and several others. Meteorological officials report no current forest‑fire warnings and forecast temperatures of 22‑24 °C, with partly sunny skies and occasional showers.
Across Finland, many camping areas are also preparing Juhannus programs. Activities range from bonfires, karaoke, bingo and dances to early‑morning swims, sauna sessions, kids’ games, and informal sports. Local clubs, caravan associations and municipalities organise the events, providing family‑friendly entertainment throughout the holiday weekend.
