South Korea and El Salvador partner on US$9 million innovation project
South Korea and El Salvador have established a US$9 million non-reimbursable cooperation agreement to implement the “Korea Innovation Nexus for R&D Collaboration” project. Over the next five years, this initiative will fund the construction and equipping of a state-of-the-art Innovation Center at the University of El Salvador (UES) in San Salvador. The facility will feature specialized laboratories for automation, digital manufacturing, prototyping, and quality control to support research, development, and the local technological entrepreneurship ecosystem.
In a separate academic development, Salvadoran students have secured full scholarships through the Elim Foundation in South Korea. These scholarships support advanced studies in high-value scientific fields, including aerospace engineering at Konkuk University and doctoral research in bioactive materials at Jeonbuk National University. These academic opportunities are part of ongoing efforts by the Salvadoran Embassy to promote specialized training and international educational integration.
