South Korea and Japan hold tourism forum in Mokpo

To mark 40 years of tourism exchange, South Korean and Japanese authorities are convening in Mokpo for the 40th Korea-Japan Tourism Promotion Council and a business forum. The event, held from the 9th to the 10th, brings together approximately 100 representatives from central and local governments, tourism organizations, and the aviation and travel industries.

A primary objective of this year's meeting is to expand the scope of bilateral tourism by focusing on regional revitalization and the joint attraction of tourists from third countries. To establish a formal framework for future cooperation, senior representatives from both nations are expected to sign an agreement expressing their intent to pursue a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) in the tourism sector.

The accompanying business forum will feature experts from airlines and travel agencies, such as Lotte JTB, ZIPAIR, H.I.S., and the Jalan Research Institute. Discussions will center on developing joint tourism products that connect specific regions and responding to shifts in the global travel market. Following the formal sessions, participants will visit historical sites in Mokpo that reflect the maritime and cultural history between the two nations.
