South Korea designates new public housing districts in Goyang and Uiwang
South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has officially designated two new public housing districts: the Goyang Daegok Knowledge Convergence District and the Uiwang Ojeon-Wanggok District. The project aims to supply a total of 23,000 housing units to the metropolitan area.
The Goyang Daegok district will cover approximately 1.99 million square meters and include 9,400 units. It is located near Daegok Station, which provides access to five major rail lines, including the GTX-A and Seoul Subway Line 3. The Uiwang Ojeon-Wanggok district will span 1.87 million square meters and consist of 14,000 units, benefiting from proximity to the upcoming Uiwang City Hall Station on the Indeogwon-Dongtan line.
To accelerate the supply, the government is implementing a fast-track plan. The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) will manage the projects, with district plan approval expected by December 2027. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2029, with a target completion date of 2035.
