South Korea expands economic and technological partnerships in Africa and Algeria
South Korea is expanding its economic and technological partnerships with African nations through diverse strategic initiatives. During the 8th Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation Ministerial Conference in Seoul, Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group, visited the Korea Development Institute (KDI) Global Knowledge Sharing and Development Center.
The discussions focused on adapting South Korean developmental successes—such as industrial policy, education investment, and institutional strengthening—to African priorities, including agriculture and artificial intelligence. Rather than direct replication, the goal is to identify methods adaptable to local African markets and resources.
In a separate bilateral context, South Korea is strengthening its industrial ties with Algeria. South Korean Ambassador Min Kyung-tae visited a local Samsung smartphone assembly plant to reaffirm commitment to Algeria’s economic diversification and digital capacity. This cooperation includes manufacturing support and educational programs like the Samsung Innovation Campus to train local digital talent.
