South Korea names Lee Seong‑hoon as head of Korea Land & Housing Corp
Lee Seong‑hoon, former presidential secretary for land and transport, was appointed by President Lee Jae‑myung as the new president of Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) on March 3, ending an eight‑month vacancy after the dismissal of Lee Han‑jun in October 2023. Lee began his civil‑service career in 1996 and has held numerous senior positions in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, including director‑general roles for road operations, urban transport, real‑estate development, logistics, regional policy and technology. In his recent presidential‑secretary role he coordinated housing and transport policy between the Blue House and the ministry.
The appointment is expected to accelerate the government’s public‑housing agenda, including the “9·7” housing supply plan that tasks LH with directly developing public rental units and separating its development and asset‑management functions. Officials anticipate that Lee will drive both the expansion of public housing and the ongoing reform of LH’s organizational structure.
