South Korea to host regional culture festivals in Yangpyeong and Jindo

South Korea will host two major regional cultural festivals from October 9 to 11, 2026.

The ‘2026 Korea Regional Culture Expo’ will take place at Yanggangseom in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province. Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Federation of Cultural Centers and the Yangpyeong Cultural Center, the event aims to showcase the value of local cultures from 232 regional cultural centers. Programs include performances by local artists, a ‘Paldo Makgeolli Competition,’ and a Silver Culture Festival. This marks the first time the expo has been held in a county-level district.

Simultaneously, the ‘2026 Jindo Bobaeseom Culture and Arts Festival’ will be held at Cheolma Plaza in Jindo. The festival features intangible heritage performances, a K-Folk Culture Night, a Jindo Drum Festival, and a Silver Song Festival. Key highlights include a large-scale Ganggangsullae performance involving approximately 300 participants and various traditional folk activities designed to share Jindo’s unique cultural heritage with visitors.
