South Korean apartment prices show divergent trends in Seoul and Daegu

South Korean apartment prices showed divergent trends in late August 2026. In Seoul, average sales prices rose by 0.22%, marking 82 consecutive weeks of growth. This increase was driven by demand for small-to-medium sized units, station-adjacent properties, and large complexes. However, high-end districts like Gangnam and Seocho experienced continued weakness, with Gangnam prices dropping by 0.41% due to tax burden concerns and policy uncertainty.

In Daegu, the apartment sales market saw a slight turnaround, with prices increasing by 0.01% compared to the previous week, following a period of decline. While the cumulative annual change for Daegu remains negative at -0.87%, the weekly uptick suggests a potential shift in momentum. Jung-gu saw the most significant rise in Daegu, while rental prices across the city continued to climb, increasing by 0.02%.

Nationwide, apartment sales prices rose by an average of 0.09%, while rental prices increased by 0.10%.
