South Korean businesses provide relief for Geoje and Tongyeong flood recovery

Various corporations, financial institutions, and organizations have provided significant financial and physical support for flood recovery efforts in Geoje and Tongyeong, South Korea.

The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with member companies including LG Electronics, Bumhan Group, Hyundai Wia, and Gyeongnam Steel, donated 150 million won to Geoje and 50 million won to Tongyeong. Additionally, the Korea Construction Association (Gyeongnam branch) provided 50 million won to each city.

Hanwha Group contributed 2 billion won to the National Disaster Relief Association for recovery efforts in Geoje, Tongyeong, and Sacheon, and an additional 1 billion won in local currency to support vulnerable populations and small business owners in Gyeongnam. Hanwha Ocean also provided heavy equipment and personnel to flooded areas.

In the financial sector, BNK Kyongnam Bank and Busan Bank announced 200 billion won in financial support for affected small businesses and individuals. Nonghyup Bank provided emergency funds and relief supplies to farmers and residents.

Seoul Metro also contributed 20 million won in donations to the Red Cross following previous volunteer efforts in Geoje, where employees assisted with removing sediment and cleaning flooded homes.
