South Korean cities expand free parking for Chuseok holiday

Various South Korean municipalities are implementing measures to ease parking congestion and support local commerce during the Chuseok holiday period.

Pocheon City announced that it will offer free access to public parking lots and temporarily suspend parking enforcement from the 23rd to the 27th. This initiative aims to assist residents, returning travelers, and tourists visiting traditional markets and commercial districts. However, enforcement will continue in safety-critical zones, such as school zones, intersections, fire hydrants, and bus stops.

In Incheon, the Jemulpo-gu Facilities Management Corporation will provide free parking at six public lots near traditional markets from the 24th to the 26th. This expansion covers 877 parking spaces, including locations near Eosijang, Dapdong Cathedral, Sinheung Market, Hyundai Market, and Solmaru Children's Park. The corporation plans to monitor these sites via CCTV and maintain an emergency response system to ensure safety and convenience during the holiday.
