South Korean special prosecutor indicts 58 people
The second comprehensive special prosecution team, led by Special Prosecutor Kwon Chang-young, has indicted 58 individuals following a 180-day investigation into cases involving insurrection, Kim Keon-hee, and the death of a Marine. The indictments include 7 individuals held in custody and 51 others released on bail, including corporate entities.
Among the indictments is 21gram, a corporation linked to allegations of interference in the presidential residence involving First Lady Kim Keon-hee and People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Han-hong. High-profile figures such as former Defense Counterintelligence Command Commander Yeo In-hyeong and former Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Oh-jin were each indicted on two counts.
The team previously issued its first indictments in June regarding the misappropriation of residence budgets, involving former Presidential Chief of Staff Kim Dae-gi and others. Following the conclusion of the investigation, the special prosecution team is scheduled to release its final investigative results in Gwacheon.
