South Korean telecom carriers announce Chuseok holiday services

South Korea's three major mobile carriers—SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus—have announced various service benefits and operational plans for the Chuseok holiday period.

SK Telecom is offering expanded roaming data for its ‘baro’ plan, allowing up to five family members to share data for an additional fee. The company is also providing discounts for travelers to Japan and various domestic membership benefits at dining and cinema outlets.

KT is providing free video calls from September 24 to 27 and offering discounts on movies via Genie TV. Their membership benefits include discounts at major retailers and food delivery services, alongside airport lounge access and roaming packages for Southeast Asia.

LG Uplus is focusing on roaming, smart home security, and content subscriptions. Key offerings include in-flight Wi-Fi events, the ‘ixi-O’ AI roaming call service available in approximately 170 countries, and the ‘HomeCam Lite’ for home security. To ensure network stability during the holiday travel surge, LG Uplus is monitoring 5G and LTE base stations at major transport hubs and operating a 24-hour situation room.
