South Korean universities form global industry partnerships

South Korean academic institutions are forming strategic partnerships to enhance global employment opportunities and industry competitiveness.

Hyejeon University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Canada-based WOW Holdings Ltd to foster global talent in the baking and confectionery sector. The collaboration aims to expand field training and job experience opportunities in Canada, support overseas employment for graduates, and develop curricula that reflect industry trends. WOW Holdings, which operates WOW Bakery in Calgary, Alberta, will support students with local industry understanding and provide practical assistance, including dormitory and vehicle support.

Separately, Wonkwang University has partnered with the KOTRA Ulaanbaatar Trade Center and the Jeonbuk Bio Industry Promotion Agency. This initiative focuses on strengthening the global competitiveness of bio and agri-food companies within the Jeonbuk region. The partnership seeks to create a virtuous cycle where regional companies expand into overseas markets, and local youth gain practical experience through overseas field training and employment opportunities, ultimately encouraging talent to settle within the region.
