South Korean international student integration initiatives
Overview
South Korea is implementing various initiatives to integrate international students into the workforce and enhance global employment opportunities through academic and governmental programs.
In Seoul, the metropolitan government launched the ‘2026 Seoul Global Marketer Training Program’ to train 60 students from 53 countries in trade practices and e-commerce. This program aims to connect international students with small and medium-sized export companies. Additionally, the Jung-gu District Office established a ‘Global Supporters’ group of international students to provide linguistic and cultural assistance to foreign residents and tourists.
On a broader academic level, South Korean universities are forming strategic international partnerships. Hyejeon University partnered with Canada-based WOW Holdings Ltd to provide field training and job opportunities in the baking and confectionery sector. Meanwhile, Wonkwang University collaborated with the KOTRA Ulaanbaatar Trade Center and the Jeonbuk Bio Industry Promotion Agency to strengthen the global competitiveness of regional bio and agri-food companies while providing overseas training for local youth.
