South Korean universities launch AI language tools and regional learning programs

Educational institutions and technology companies in South Korea are expanding initiatives to support international students and regional development through specialized learning models.

Baekseok University and AI education solution provider Prewillin have signed a memorandum of understanding to co-develop Korean language textbooks and learning applications. The partnership aims to utilize AI-based Computerized Adaptive Testing (AI-CAT) to diagnose student proficiency and provide personalized learning paths. The first set of digital learning tools is scheduled for implementation in classrooms starting from the second semester of the 2026 academic year.

Separately, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju National University, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies have entered into an agreement to establish a ‘learncation’ (learning + vacation) cooperation model. This initiative seeks to integrate Jeju’s local industry and tourism resources with the universities' expertise in foreign languages, AI, and regional innovation. The program will include project-based learning, language and culture exchange for foreign residents, and shared AI educational resources to foster global talent and regional growth.
