South Korea's LH accelerates housing projects and launches community play facility

The Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) has moved up the compensation start for the Gwangmyeong‑Siheung public housing zone by four months, targeting 67,000 new homes, and has opened applications for 2,306 units in Goyang‑Changneung. President Lee Seong‑hoon said the goal is to reduce the waiting time for a house, calling it “an important duty.” LH is also overhauling its senior management, planning to replace six standing directors and the vice‑president to streamline decision‑making for new‑town and public‑housing projects.

In a separate initiative, LH will convert vacant space in Gwangju’s Seogu district into a public indoor play facility. The project, part of the “LH Generation‑Resonance Sharing+” program, will receive a 700 million KRW investment and involves a partnership with the local city government and Habitat for Humanity Korea. The play center aims to revitalize under‑used facilities in non‑metropolitan areas and provide cultural and childcare services to the community.
