South Pars field recovers 40% of damaged production capacity
Iran has recovered approximately 40% of the damaged production capacity at the South Pars oil and gas field, according to Ahmad Zeraatkar, the Deputy Minister of Oil for Planning. The facilities were previously damaged during escalations in March.
Zeraatkar stated that the rehabilitation process is being conducted using local capabilities and domestic financing through four major local projects. While some units were returned to service ahead of schedule, the full restoration of the damaged sites is expected to take at least two years. The primary goal of the rehabilitation is to stabilize the gas network to ensure supply for industrial, commercial, and domestic use.
Other officials have provided varying progress reports; Touraj Dehghani, head of the Pars Oil and Gas Company, previously indicated that refinery capacity recovery had reached 70%. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized international economic pressures against Tehran, calling on the UN Security Council to condemn such measures.
