South Sinai Governor advances municipal services and organic farming projects

South Sinai Governor Ismail Kamal is overseeing several regional development and administrative initiatives. In a meeting with city heads in Sharm El-Sheikh, the Governor emphasized the continuous monitoring of essential services, including sanitation, street maintenance, and infrastructure, to improve the urban appearance and service quality for citizens.

To address local needs, the Governor has mandated weekly meetings between city heads and residents to listen to grievances directly. He also instructed officials to expedite legal reconciliation and land regularization processes while ensuring that any removal of violations is conducted strictly within the law to prevent new encroachments.

In a separate development focused on sustainability, a new organic farming and ecosystem restoration project has been launched in South Sinai. Executed over three years in collaboration with Eni, Petrobel, the South Sinai Agriculture Directorate, the Carbon Footprint Center at Heliopolis University, and the Egyptian Association for Bio-Agriculture, the project aims to support 250 farmers and 60 women.

The initiative covers 600 acres, focusing on organic and regenerative practices to improve soil and water quality. It seeks to benefit approximately 2,000 people indirectly through the expansion of sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, and the production of medicinal and aromatic plants such as rosemary, oregano, and moringa.
