South Sinai regional development initiatives

Overview

South Sinai Governor Ismail Kamal has initiated several regional development programs focused on economic empowerment and sustainable infrastructure.

In late July, the governor inaugurated a handicraft and Bedouin products exhibition in Tur to support local artisans and small-scale enterprises. The event, involving approximately 30 women artisans, aimed to promote cultural identity and improve household incomes through market access and e-commerce.

By late August, administrative efforts expanded to include the oversight of municipal services such as sanitation and street maintenance, alongside mandates for city heads to hold weekly meetings with residents. Additionally, a three-year organic farming and ecosystem restoration project was launched. This initiative, a collaboration involving various agricultural and environmental organizations, aims to support 250 farmers and 60 women across 600 acres to improve soil quality and promote eco-tourism.
