South Sulawesi tightens oversight of subsidized fuel distribution

The South Sulawesi Provincial Government and Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi are tightening supervision of subsidized fuel distribution to prevent misuse and ensure availability for eligible citizens.

Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman announced the formation of a task force to monitor distribution across 24 regencies and cities. Authorities have identified indications of misuse, including repeated refueling without using previous supplies and the use of vehicles with modified tanks. The Governor has urged the public to avoid panic buying, noting that fuel stocks remain available, including at 24-hour service stations.

Pertamina reported a 10–15 percent increase in Solar JBT demand between June and August 2026, driven by increased logistics activity and price disparities following a price adjustment on September 1, 2026. To mitigate queues at gas stations and ensure LPG availability, Pertamina has increased fuel allocations by approximately 10–15 percent in high-demand areas.
