Southampton murder suspect Vickrum Digwa and family deny weapons arsenal

Vickrum Digwa, convicted of murdering 18‑year‑old Henry Nowak in Southampton, appeared by videolink at Southampton Magistrates' Court and pleaded not guilty to seven counts of possessing offensive weapons. He and his father Moga Singh, 52, and brother Gurpreet Digwa, 27, were also charged with possession of 37 swords, flick‑knives, an axe, eight knuckledusters, three machetes, an extendable baton, a manriki‑gusari and other items.

All three defendants denied the charges. The court set a case‑management hearing for 4 June 2027 and a trial for 27 September 2027. The case follows public controversy over police conduct after Digwa was handcuffed while dying, prompting protests and an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct. The Solicitor General previously referred Digwa's life sentence as potentially "unduly lenient".

The hearing also noted an additional amended charge of possessing three push daggers, pending clarification from the judge.
