Southern California businesses looted during street takeovers

Two businesses in Southern California were looted during separate street takeover incidents on Sunday night. The first burglary occurred around 11 p.m. at Lorena Pharmacy in Boyle Heights. Video footage shows suspects using a saw to cut into the pharmacy, after which approximately 10 individuals allegedly entered the building and fled with baskets of merchandise. This incident took place while a crowd of about 100 people had gathered in the area for a street takeover.

Less than two miles away, a second burglary was reported at approximately 11:15 p.m. at a Jack in the Box in East Los Angeles. Authorities stated that three suspects entered the restaurant during another street takeover, with two masked individuals allegedly stealing two cash registers.

The Los Angeles Police Department has not yet announced any arrests, and no injuries were reported during either incident. These burglaries follow a recent string of similar thefts in the Los Angeles area, including several AutoZone locations targeted earlier this month. The incidents have raised concerns regarding whether businesses are being targeted during large-scale illegal street takeovers.
