Southern California heat spell brings soaring temperatures and high humidity

A heat wave is expected to peak on Wednesday across Southern California, with the National Weather Service warning of unusually high humidity that will make temperatures feel even warmer. Forecasts call for mid‑to‑upper 90s °F in the San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys, while the Los Angeles basin is expected to be in the low‑to‑mid 80s °F. A heat advisory has been issued from 8 a.m. Tuesday to 9 p.m. Thursday for multiple valleys and mountain corridors.

The advisory highlights heightened risk for the very young, the elderly and anyone outdoors without air‑conditioning. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, remain in cooled environments, limit strenuous activity to early morning or evening, and check on family and neighbors. The service also noted a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday into Wednesday across Los Angeles County.
