Southern Colorado hit by Red Flag warnings and severe thunderstorm threat

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for portions of Southern Colorado's High Country, Las Animas and Huerfano counties, lasting from late morning into the evening, as dry, breezy conditions bring gusts of up to 40 mph. The region will experience unseasonably warm temperatures, with highs in the 80s‑90s, and an elevated fire‑weather risk.

Fire Weather Watches have also been issued for the High Country, Eastern Plains and the southern I‑25 corridor, while isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, bringing wind, pea‑size hail and occasional rain. Early Monday may see a brief rain‑to‑snow transition in higher elevations before conditions dry out later in the week.
