Southern New England Heat Advisory Issued for July 14‑15

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for much of southern New England from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, through 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15. The advisory covers Suffolk County, where heat‑index values are expected to approach 100 °F, and predicts moderate to major heat risk across the region. Residents, especially older adults, infants, people with chronic conditions, outdoor workers and those without air conditioning, are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, wear light clothing and seek air‑conditioned spaces. The Bourne Police Department will operate a cooling center from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both days, and local officials encourage checking on vulnerable neighbors. The advisory also advises that heat‑related illness can become severe, recommending that anyone showing signs of heat stroke be moved to a cool location and emergency services called if needed.
