Southern Norway electricity prices expected to rise in winter 2027

Electricity prices in Southern Norway are projected to rise significantly during the winter of 2027. According to data from the Nord Pool Euronext exchange cited by Fjordkraft, prices in the three southernmost price areas are expected to reach approximately 207 øre/kWh in January and 208 øre/kWh in February, including VAT.

This forecast represents a notable increase compared to the January and February averages of this year, which ranged between 143 and 159 øre/kWh. Analysts suggest these levels are comparable to the energy crisis experienced in the first quarter of 2022. The primary drivers for the anticipated spike include low water levels in Norwegian reservoirs and depleted gas stocks in Europe.

While households with fixed 'Norgespris' contracts may see minimal impact, analysts warn that the price surge could be dramatic for businesses operating with thin profit margins. Market projections indicate a potential decline in prices to around 160 øre/kWh by March 2027.
