Southern Thailand hit by 51 coordinated attacks
A series of coordinated attacks involving approximately 51 incidents of violence struck southern Thailand on Saturday night, targeting the provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani. The attacks, which occurred within a nearly two-hour window, included bombings, arson of government vehicles and offices, attacks on telecommunications towers, robberies, and tire burning.
In Narathiwat, 22 incidents were recorded, including explosions in the Rangae and Sungai Padi districts. Two women in their 30s were injured after their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) near the Dalaepalas Mosque intersection. Other targets included a local administration office and various public infrastructure.
Yala recorded 18 incidents, including the burning of a telecommunications tower and government vehicles, while Pattani saw 11 incidents. In response to the organized attacks, which are believed to be orchestrated by separatist groups, authorities imposed a curfew across Narathiwat from 10:15 PM to 6:00 AM to facilitate investigations by police and military forces.
