Guardia di Finanza uncovers tax evasion and illegal labor in Italian tourist regions
The Guardia di Finanza has conducted a series of inspections across various Italian tourist regions, uncovering significant tax evasion, illegal labor, and regulatory violations.
In the Soverato area, authorities identified 23 workers employed without contracts and discovered irregular rental arrangements. One notable case involved a tenant who sub-leased an entire apartment illegally, resulting in over 100,000 euros in undeclared rental income and approximately 30,000 euros in evaded taxes. Additionally, 13 irregular hospitality structures were identified for violating local tax regulations.
In Siracusa, summer inspections of bars, restaurants, and beach clubs led to the discovery of 51 workers employed illegally, with total violations amounting to 582,000 euros. In Amantea, investigations into a coastal resort revealed unpaid municipal taxes (IMU) and maritime concession fees, allowing authorities to recover over 160,000 euros in taxes, penalties, and interest.
These operations utilized various methods, including documentary analysis, land registry checks, and aerial and naval surveillance, to ensure compliance with labor laws and fiscal obligations in high-traffic tourist zones.
