Soybean cultivation expands across Poland despite drought

Soybean cultivation is expanding across Poland, with total acreage reaching over 100,000 hectares. The industry is currently concentrated in the southern regions, which account for approximately 90% of the country's soybean production. Key growing areas include the Podkarpackie, Małopolskie, Lubelskie, and Dolnośląskie voivodeships. However, the crop is gradually moving northward into regions like Zachodniopomorskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie.

Despite the expansion, recent weather conditions have impacted productivity. Farmers report that drought has led to earlier-than-usual harvests and significantly lower yields in some areas. In certain cases, yields are expected to decrease by 500 to 800 kg per hectare compared to previous seasons due to poor pod development and smaller seeds. While lower yields present a challenge, some producers note that slightly better market prices have helped partially offset the losses.
