Soybean planting in Mato Grosso faces delays amid low rainfall
Soybean planting for the 2026/27 season in Mato Grosso is currently facing delays due to low rainfall. According to data from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), approximately 10.23% of the estimated area has been sown. While this represents a weekly increase of 6.36 percentage points, it remains 4.79 percentage points behind the same period in the previous cycle.
In the Western region of the state, planting has reached 18.42% of the area, aided by higher rainfall volumes. While large producer groups are advancing, other farmers remain cautious, awaiting improved soil moisture. Climate models suggest a potential rapid recovery in soil moisture for early October, which could help accelerate the planting rhythm.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, Aprosoja/MS has launched a free Risk Panel for the 2026/27 harvest. This digital tool integrates eight key indicators to assist producers in decision-making: area and productivity, rural credit, climate, market, commercialization, prices, costs/margins, and freight. The platform aims to provide an integrated view of the agricultural scenario to support planning throughout the production cycle.
