SpaceX Starshield restrictions disrupt Ukrainian drone operations FAST-MOVING

Ukrainian officials have accused SpaceX of implementing sudden speed restrictions on its Starshield military satellite service, which has disrupted critical combat operations. The new technical limitation reportedly cuts connectivity for terminals moving at speeds exceeding 160 km/h (100 mph). This has significantly impacted the use of drones for reconnaissance, logistics, and intercepting Russian Shahed drones, with some units reporting signal drops even at speeds of 110-120 km/h.

Serhii Beskrestnov, a defense technology adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated that the military received no prior warning regarding these changes. The timing of the restrictions has led to speculation regarding political motivations, particularly amid tensions between the US administration and Kyiv over Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski criticized the move, questioning if Elon Musk is using his products for political leverage.

Elon Musk responded to the allegations by stating that Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government, and that any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and the President. SpaceX has not provided a formal public explanation for the specific implementation of these speed limits.
