Spain addresses electrification challenges and infrastructure growth

The Association of Electrical Material Manufacturers (Afme) recently held a sector meeting titled ‘The Electrification Challenge: Technology and Growth’ to analyze the obstacles facing electrification in Spain. The event focused on the necessity of accelerating the transition through renewable energy, energy storage, and infrastructure modernization.

Key discussions centered on adapting electrical grids to meet new energy demands, securing necessary investments, and coordinating various stakeholders in the energy transition. Participants also addressed the regulatory, technological, and geopolitical factors influencing this process.

In Barcelona, progress in electric mobility is being marked by the upcoming opening of a new super-fast charging station at the Ronda de Dalt exit in December. Managed by Barcelona Serveis Municipals (BSM), the facility will feature 12 spaces and a capacity to serve 300 vehicles daily. The station's power capacity was increased to 800 kW, allowing users to potentially recover up to 400 kilometers of autonomy in 15 minutes.
