Spain advances electric mobility through new funding and Chinese investment missions

Spain is advancing its electric mobility and industrial investment strategies through new funding and international outreach. The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has launched a public consultation for a new 150 million euro program to boost public electric charging infrastructure on Spanish highways. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the initiative aims to add 2,674 charging points, including high-power stations of 300 to 400 kW, to support interurban travel.

Simultaneously, the regional government of Extremadura is conducting a mission to China to attract industrial and technological investments. A delegation led by Economy Counselor Guillermo Santamaría will visit seven Chinese cities, including Shanghai and Beijing, to promote projects in electric mobility, green hydrogen, and renewable energy. This mission follows previous successful efforts to secure major industrial investments, such as the Hunan Yuneng project.
