Spain allocates funds for innovation projects and data center energy efficiency
Ivace+i has approved €17.3 million in funding to support 28 innovation projects, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation. More than half of the funds are dedicated to digital technologies to modernize the productive fabric. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are primary beneficiaries, accounting for approximately 60% of the initiatives, which helps reduce the financial barriers to research, development, and technological implementation.
In a separate initiative, the DATIA project is addressing the energy challenges of data centers. Co-financed by the European Union and the Community of Madrid with a budget of €5.7 million, the project is coordinated by Cobra Solutions. DATIA involves eleven entities working to reduce the environmental footprint of digital infrastructure through artificial intelligence, digital twins, and eco-design. The goal is to create climate-neutral and energy-resilient data centers that balance reduced consumption with high service reliability.
