Ivace+i innovation and R&D funding in Spain

Overview

The Valencian Institute for Competitiveness and Innovation (Ivace+i) has released significant funding to support technological modernization and research and development (R&D) in Spain.

Initially, Ivace+i approved €17.3 million for 28 innovation projects, focusing heavily on digital transformation and the modernization of the productive fabric. A substantial portion of these funds was directed toward digital technologies, with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) receiving approximately 60% of the support. Additionally, the €5.7 million DATIA project was launched to improve the energy efficiency and environmental footprint of data centers using artificial intelligence and eco-design.

Subsequently, Ivace+i awarded 11.1 million euros in non-repayable subsidies to 46 corporate R&D projects within the Valencian Community. Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, these grants also primarily benefited SMEs, which accounted for roughly 60% of the projects. The scope of this funding expanded to include health, advanced industry, circular economy, and infrastructure, with circular economy initiatives representing nearly 30% of the thematic distribution.
