Spain allocates over 2.9 billion euros to Andalusia for storm relief and infrastructure

The Spanish Government has mobilized over 2.9 billion euros in Andalusia to address damages caused by recent storms and climate emergencies. Pedro Fernández, the Government Delegate in Andalusia, stated that these funds have arrived in less than six months to support the most affected sectors and territories.

Of this total, 1.154 billion euros consist of advances and subsidies for 415 Andalusian municipalities, intended to fully finance the repair of damaged infrastructure and the construction of new facilities. The investment program aims not only to repair existing damage but also to strengthen the region's capacity to face future climate-related events.

Beyond emergency relief, the central government is promoting a new productive model in Andalusia through strategic infrastructure projects. These investments target sectors including science, technology, defense, energy, logistics, transport, and agri-food. Specific projects mentioned include the Almería-Murcia high-speed rail connection, desalination plant expansions, and the Army Logistics Base in Córdoba.
