Spain and Amnesty condemn settler siege of Palestinian families in Qusra

Spanish authorities and Amnesty International have condemned the siege of Palestinian families in Qusra, located south of Nablus in the West Bank. Amnesty International described the situation as a model of ‘coordinated and strategic settler terrorism,’ noting that three families have been besieged in their homes since August 9, facing shortages of food and running water.

Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement calling for an end to settler violence and impunity, emphasizing the need to protect Palestinian citizens in accordance with international humanitarian law. Madrid also reiterated its commitment to a two-state solution as the only path to sustainable peace.

The siege involves settlers blocking roads with stones and setting up tents near the homes, which has reportedly prevented medical teams and foreign activists from reaching the families. Amnesty International accused Israeli authorities of enabling and funding this violence to facilitate the displacement of Palestinians. According to UN data, over 2,200 Palestinians have been displaced since the beginning of 2024 due to settler violence and related land access restrictions.
