Settler violence in West Bank town of Qasra

Tensions have escalated in the West Bank town of Qasra following reports of settler violence against Palestinian residents. On August 14, the President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, condemned attacks in the area, describing them as a “systematic policy” carried out under the protection of occupation forces. Al Yamahi called for the international community to hold perpetrators accountable and suggested that extremist settler groups be added to international terrorism lists.

By August 16, the situation in Qasra evolved into a siege of Palestinian families. Amnesty International characterized the event as “coordinated and strategic settler terrorism,” reporting that three families had been besieged in their homes since August 9, facing shortages of food and water. The siege reportedly involved settlers blocking roads with stones and setting up tents to prevent medical teams and activists from reaching the families.

In response, Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an end to settler violence and impunity, while Amnesty International accused Israeli authorities of enabling such actions to facilitate Palestinian displacement.
