Spain and Mexico Cancel Renewable Energy and Circular Economy Projects

The Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition rejected the Radona II solar‑photovoltaic park in Soria. The 31.5 MW project, backed by Iberdrola Renovables Castilla‑León with an investment of €21.1 million, was dismissed after four years of processing because the promoter failed to provide required environmental documentation. The decision archives the file, though Iberdrola may appeal the ruling.

In Mexico, the Secretariat of the Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) formally cancelled the Polo de Desarrollo de Economía Circular “Parque Hidalgo.” The 2.7 million‑square‑meter site owned by Pemex was scrapped after a citizen consultation in Hidalgo showed that 63 % of participants opposed the project. The cancellation removes all fiscal incentives and special permits previously granted to the development.
