Spain and Mexico coordinate investigation into murder of Spanish student in Morelos

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has spoken with Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco to address the murder of 21-year-old student Claudia Tacoronte Aguilera. Tacoronte, a resident of Gran Canaria, was killed in the state of Morelos, Mexico, while participating in an academic exchange program at the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (UAEM).

The Mexican government has pledged to investigate the crime at the highest level to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice. The Morelos State Attorney General's Office is currently investigating the case under femicide protocols.

Authorities are actively searching for a suspect who was identified via security camera footage near the scene of the attack. The Spanish Embassy and Consulate in Mexico remain mobilized to provide support to the victim's family.
